Tails of RescueMen is Born!
Brought to you by PillowsforPaws.org
The two women brainstormed for a year until finally the Tails of RescueMen calendar concept was born. Through their experience and connections in the entertainment field, Felicia and Jen cast real NYC men and their companion animals for the first calendar (2015), producing the entire project in just two months.
Now four years later, the calendar has grown into a full-blown RescueMen campaign using social media, press, and fundraisers to help clear shelters and ultimately knock out the horrific puppy/kitten mill industry. The focus on NYC RescueMen has now expanded to showcasing handsome heroes from states all over the country who have rescued and opened their homes to loving animal companions. These men are true role models and amazing examples of the good adoption can do for both animals and their humans.

Jen Halpern (casting director) and Felicia Greenfield (actress and mom) are the dedicated forces behind the RescueMen®USA campaign. The two met five years ago when Felicia auditioned for a project that Jen was casting. Soon the women discovered they had two very important things in common: Both were passionate about helping animals in need, and each ran an organization with the same mission. Felicia is the founder of Grandpa Dave’s Creature Comforts while Jen is founder, president and CEO of Pillows for Paws. Both organizations donate essential material goods to shelter cats, dogs, and rabbits at Animal Care Centers of NYC, the municipal shelter.
Jen and Felicia bonded over a common struggle. They agreed it was crucial for shelter animals to have beds, toys, treats, grooming and behavioral enrichment items to help with their emotional well-being, but what could the women do to promote the animals’ adoptions?
How could they help erase the stigma connected to shelter animals and showcase how wonderful, healthy and adoptable they really are?
